Classes

We customize our programs based on the child or classroom's preferences and needs.

Our recipes vary depending on seasonality (think tasty tomato gazpacho in the summer and warm tortellini in brodo in the winter)

WELLNESS (age 3-5)

These series of classes are bursting with fun and imagination! Your child may be your sous chef in the kitchen, or perhaps this is their first experience cooking. All learning levels are welcome. We stress loving food, loving our bodies and respecting them both. Tailored towards younger ones who may need to release a little more restless energy from their day, we begin our lessons on the yoga mat. Our adventurous story time and imaginative play will help to sharpen your child’s listening skills while we engage in books, music and yoga based movements. Children discover wholesome and clean small meals and are encouraged to taste everything. During each class we explore a seasonal, cultural and nutritional element of the dish that we prepare. We use mindfulness practices incorporating books, artwork and creative play while always practicing respect for the kitchen and ourselves.

Kids Mindfulness

WELLNESS (age 5-7)

These series of classes often begin with yoga, incorporating cooperative games, imaginative storytelling, music and art while engaging the natural energy and enthusiasm of your child. Classes explore yoga poses (asanas), breathing exercises, visual imagery and relaxation techniques while conveying lessons in self expression, body image, communication skills, the power of positive thinking and environmental awareness. This sets the groundwork for our delicious and nutritious hands on meal creations, highlighting the seasonal, cultural and nutrient focus of the day.  We develop basic cooking fundamentals, techniques and knife skills, as well as a respect for the kitchen and it’s tools. Children discover and taste healthy and delicious meals while mastering mindfulness exercises that they can do themselves at home or at school.

Kids Yoga

WELLNESS (age 8 and up)

These series of classes encourage a deeper sense of self exploration, interpersonal skills and body awareness. Depending on your child's needs and preferences, we will either dedicate a majority of our time to movement or food. Classes integrate traditional kundalini breathing techniques, vinyasa flowing sequences, balancing (asanas) poses and inversions (headstands!) We will also do work in groups through yoga games and writing exercises, encouraging positive peer interactions, teamwork and self reflection. In the kitchen we focus on nutritious hands on meal creations, highlighting the seasonal, cultural and nutrient focus of the day.  We refine our cooking techniques and knife skills while discovering nutritious meals and mastering mindfulness tools to apply to any stressful situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if my child has a food allergy?
All of our recipes are vegetarian, allergy aware and nut free. Most of our recipes can be altered to avoid other allergies like lactose or soy. We can also cook gluten free and vegan meals. Please specify what needs or restrictions you would like us to work with when filling out the contact form, and we will be happy to accommodate.
  • Who purchases the food for the cooking classes?
We will send you a list of ingredients one week prior to the class. As an alternative, we can buy the ingredients online and have them delivered straight to your home. You can expect to budget an average of $5 per child per class, as long as your home is equipped with basic pantry items (olive oil, salt & pepper, butter, milk, eggs, spices and herbs).
  • What tools or props do I need to have at my house?
Yoga classes: We ask that you provide one yoga mat per child. Cooking classes: We are experienced, versatile and feel comfortable in any kitchen. We can improvise for certain things, and will double check before if we need any specialty equipment or tools. We do ask that you supply one cutting board and one kid safe knife per child at every class. If you need to purchase these items, we recommend this knife set and thesecutting boards, both available on amazon.
  • Is there a minimum number of kids per class?
The minimum number of students per class for both cooking and yoga is three kids.
  • Who will clean up after the cooking class?
We will come to your home 30 minutes prior to the start of the class to prep for the session. We will stay afterwards to clean up your kitchen, leaving it sparkly clean and ready for you to enjoy.
  • Can I get a discount?
Yes. If you introduce a friend you get a class for free!
  • What is the cancellation policy?
Canceling classes inconveniences your chef mates, so we need to try to be as diligent as we can in attending classes. However, we know that sometimes things come up, so we allow one cancellation per month, with 7 days notice required.
  • How long is a class?
A typical class will run between 60 and 90 minutes per session.
